Sink Your Teeth Into "Abigail": A Bloody Good Time

Looking for a horror movie that's both terrifying and fun? Then "Abigail" is your blood type. This genre mashup of heist thriller and vampire flick is a wild ride, packed with action, laughs, and enough gore to satisfy even the most discerning horror fan.

Macabre, menacing, and wholesomely malevolent, "Abigail" is a marvellously maddening blood-soaked romp that avoids the stereotypical pitfalls of modern day Vampiric slashers, instead opting for a delightfully warped, good time that fits nicely right alongside the explosive "Ready Or Not."

The first act may take its time to get going: that's just how it is sometimes. You gotta get pricked a few times before those f*cking doctors find a vein. But once they finally do, boy does the blood-letting flow!

The film's strength lies in its untethered willingness to satisfy our thirst for entertainment. Yes, it may not be scary in the slightest, but it's violent, and it has a ton of bloody fun with practical gore and special effects.

Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the team behind "Ready or Not," clearly know how to have fun with the genre. The film is full of dark humor and witty dialogue, keeping the audience engaged even during the most suspenseful moments.

While the plot might not win any awards for originality, the execution is solid, and the characters, which could have easily been one dimensional throwaway stereotypes, provide plenty of engaging material to chew on. The cast, including a deliciously hammy Dan Stevens, the late Angus Cloud, and the wickedly wonderful Alisha Weir.

If you're looking for a horror film that's both entertaining and inventive, "Abigail" is a must-see. Just be sure to bring your appetite for thrills (and maybe a barf bag for the squeamish).
